LIOG…Life in the Dating World! πŸ’‘πŸŒŽ

Let us all think about all our past dating experiences or current dating experiences. Do you have good or bad memories? How many dates did you go on until you found Mr/Mrs Right?? Are you still going on multiple dates trying to find your soul mate? Close your eyes and really think about your dating memories.

Now that you’ve thought about it, tell me what you think about dating today in the comment section.

    who-can-you-date

The dating scene can be a real pain in the ass! I can only speak from a female’s perspective. Most guys seem like they aren’t in any rush to settle down. While most women prefer to seek commitment than something short-term. We all can agree that dating is like an extensive interview process. You spend all this money and time with the 50/50 chance of going on a failing date. That’s time lost  which cannot be gained. But I feel that dating is necessary. No matter how much we hope for love at first sight(extremely rare), dating allows one to interact and relate with another person whether of the same or opposite sex. But this generation is so fucked up that its close to impossible to be in a relationship. Hook-ups are what’s important. It’s easy and eliminates the actual work that goes into developing a relationship. I do believe that companionship is healthy in life. No-one wants to be alone. So we find ourselves sorting through the bad just to find the perfect match.

I’m 24 and I’ve been through my own dating struggles. And it’s not a cake walk but I am realizing that the older one gets the more it sucks to be in the dating scene.  I am attracted to guys from all races. I don’t discriminate but cultural differences is the biggest hurdle I’ve always encountered. Last year, when I was on my dating grind. I went on a few dates; some good and bad. And I would always hear, “I’ve never been with a black girl, you’re my first” or “I thought you’d be loud and ghetto”πŸ™„. I always feel like its just a fetish for these guys. And I’ve had my share of ignorant sexist and racist remarks. Then I get the stereotypical questions once my Jamaican accent is heard,

“What’s Bob Marley like?”

[ummm tf??πŸ˜’πŸ˜’ he’s dead so why don’t you go to the afterlife and find out for yourself],

“Is your family Rastafarian, do a lot of Jamaican wear dreads?”.

I can understand if a person is reserved and not well travelled. But its like my god pick up a damn book and read.  So I tended to date guys in my ethnicity. There is usually a 10 year gap in terms of age. There is no science behind why I did that. I just know I am not about the cougar life and anything older just made me feel like I was with a sugar daddy. I am the type of person that HATES!😑the concept of “we’re going with the flow, let’s see where things go”. To date someone for 2-3months and that’s his response, literally pisses me the fuck off. I’m crazy, I don’t need shallow commitments like that in my life. That indicates to me that the guy has no idea what the fuck he wants out of life. That level of instability and uncertainty I could facilitate in college but if a guy is 30 and proposes this to me, he can kindly see himself through the door.

We can either grow together and support each others goals or go our separate ways. And it not like I was searching for someone that’s the CEO of a million dollar company. I can start from the bottom but there has to be that drive to want to succeed. I cant be with no bum. With that mentality I was on maaaaaanny dates! I just refused to settle or lower my standards.

Now, I realize that for anyone dating in there 20s there is a HUGEEE dating pool! Honestly there are options! I am actually grateful for the options. But for a person in their 40s, well damn does it suck!  My sister is turning 42 this year and we are all trying to get her back out in the dating scene. Her husband died 4 years ago from cancerπŸ™ and I think it’s time for her to get back into the dating world. She has 2 toddlersπŸ‘¦πŸ‘§. My nephew is a total dick repellent. I love him to death but he’s a major cock blocker. He makes any guy’s flirting job difficult. My niece is my little wing woman.

{side story}

I went to Target with her and I was in the produce section looking through their limited selection of fruits. This guy walks by and my niece goes hello and waves to the guy. He waves back. I glanced at him and he was fine!! She goes “You are cute, my aunt would think you are cute too”.

Honestly, I wanted to have an aneurism  because I was so embarrassed and shocked. But I ended up exchanging phone numbers with the guy😁. So she’s officially my favorite niece lol.

I thought any difficulty, would be finding someone that would appreciate another person’s child. Children are like a 2 for 1 deal in any relationship But oohh boooy was I wrong.

We signed up on two dating sites; eHarmony and match.com. We thought we might need to spend a little money to find someone serious because it seems like so much of a hassle to sort through the fuckboys that could be on a free dating. But options are sooo slim on these dating sites! The older guys are looking for girls that are in their 20s and 30s. We signed up on both sites for almost 3 months and she has only been on one date. ONE DATE! An average date at that! Like the struggle is real. And my sister is really outgoing. You are thinking why not try blind dates. Well blind dates are usually orchestrated by friends but all her friends are married with their family. Not many options of single friends they could recommend. I have no idea where she would find eligible bachelors her age, and she’s not into the club or bar scene. Maybe we’ll need to sign up for Christian Mingle…😳😳😳😳.

Finding dates for my sister made me hyper-aware on how much dating fucking sucks. I was complaining about not finding the right person. But it sucks even more not having options to choose from. It’s one thing to just hook up with randoms but as a parent, you don’t want to be bringing different men around your children.

Well I welcome all suggestions on the situation. If there is a specific website or certain activities that my sister can partake in to find a guy in her age group. I welcome it all! Let me know in the comment section.πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡
